They released their debut experimental album ‘An Entropic Cycle’ in March 2020. This was featured on Spotify editorial playlist ‘The Loft’ and DFA’s Archived Selection. They followed this with a remix EP featuring remixes from the likes of Ghost Culture (Daniel Avery, Kelly Lee Owens). Their track ‘Delighted To Be Free’ was part of the ‘Ambient Layers’ compilation on K7! Records, and features on Spotify’s ‘Electronic X’ playlist.
In 2021 they released their protest club track ‘METACURSE’ in collaboration with Ghost Culture which featured on New Music Friday. Following this they released – ‘A Strange Time EP’ – in March 2022 which was selected for Apple Music’s Electronic Daily playlist and Matt Wilkinson’s show.
They released their second album ‘SIX SEASONS’ in July 2023 – an ambient neo-classical meditation on the tug of war between man and nature – with a multi-sensorial choreographed live dance performance. The lead single ‘WINTER’ features on Spotify editorial playlist Kopfkino.
Their latest ongoing project ‘Life on Venus – Remixed & Reimagined’ – a collection of remixes by the likes of Sasha, Frank Wiedemann, Johnny Aux (Paranoid London), Ewan Pearson, and Craig Richards – was premiered as a four-piece mixed media performance at Houghton Festival 2023; raising questions surrounding the male gaze, human connection and queer identity.
Awkward Moments represent a unique voice in contemporary and immersive per-formative art. Their live shows always inhabit the edginess of experimental art presentations, but are firmly rooted on the solid foundations of their multifold crafts ranging from music composition, scoring, narratives, live performance, costuming, videography and projection content.
They have performed at various European festivals including Glastonbury, Houghton and She Makes Noise, played at venues including Fabric and Moth Club, HÖR Berlin, scored short films, and host an ongoing radio show ‘An Entropic Hour’ on OpenLab Radio.
WHAT’S NEXT
They are currently finishing their third album ‘A Strange Odyssey’ – co-written & co-produced by Al Doyle (Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem), Ghost Culture (Daniel Avery, Kelly Lee Owens, Falle Nioke), and Liam Howe (Sneaker Pimps, FKA Twigs, Lana Del Rey).
They host a regular fundrave in London called ‘A Strange Night’ – a cultural platform for good vibes – that promotes community and diversity in these divisive times, where they experiment with club friendly satellite performances and raise money for charities close to their hearts like ‘In Place of War’ and ‘Arts Emergency’. The club nights have seen DJ sets from 2ManyDJ’s, Benji B, Joe Goddard, Ewan Pearson, Paul Simonon (The Clash), Tom VR, and live performances from Falle Nioke, Rose Gray, Tom Rasmussen and BĘÃTFÓØT, among many others.
Awkward Moments are the innovative modern voice of IDM & Dark Pop, that place one foot in the rave, the other on the astral plane. Think Pet Shop Boys and Leftfield meets Björk.
