Callinsick aka Arran George tells stories of modern life. The singer-songwriter is from Whitehaven, Cumbria, now residing in Charlton, London. His childhood was spent shuffling between small towns in West Cumbria; the local trajectory being to work at the local nuclear power plant, where his father worked before him. Flitting around, picking up jobs as a labourer and bouncing between strange and colourful environments, he came across graffitiat a train station commuter line which read “CALL IN SICK”. Inspired to pick up the guitar and write music, Callinsick was born. His debut EP, a collection of intimate songs reflecting on masculinity, brotherhood, love and loss, came out in 2023. His music flows from sparse bedroom folk to alternative rock, indie and sweeping ethereal pop, entwined together by the multi-instrumentalist’s vivid songwriting. Inspired by his own experiences, growing up in the North and later moving to London, Callinsick aims to capture the behind the scenes; a voice to the emotions we all feel but can’t always voice, and to push against the narratives that feel engrained.
