‘LEADER OF THE NEW SCHOOL OF JUNGLISTS’, A phrase coined by Rinse FM’s Uncle Dugs as a nod to how Kelvin 373 has inspired a generation of ravers through his love for Jungle Drum & Bass and his dedication to building a unified scene with his label Born on Road.

His achievements in sound system culture stem from roots on the underground rave circuit and have seen him storming the UK festival circuit but when we turn our attention to the present day it’s evident that Kelvin has entered the mainstream Drum & Bass circuit where he’s playing at the heavy hitters such as Printworks, Motion and The Warehouse Project.

Kelvin has made a home in Bristol alongside label mate Aries, his partner in crime Selecta J-Man and a wide circle of Junglists that are all working towards a common goal. His business is promoting new music, championing new artists, stacking up dubs and then ultimately, and completely destroying raves.

Kelvin 373 is widely recognised as a key figure on the Drum & Bass Jungle circuit today; whether it be for playing, making, supporting or signing the music that inspires this man’s everyday life, one thing’s for certain is that he’s doing it for the love.

Kelvin’s skills behind the turntables were honed from the age of 13 when he began mixing vinyl, which eventually led to landing a warmup set for The Executioner Andy C over in Spain. Kelvin progressed as go-to DJ for a wide range of top level vocalists with special mentions to his friends Inja and Gardna whom he spent many a session with. He brought a rare combination of enthusiasm and guidance to the table and fast forward to 2017 he earned the award for Best Breakthrough DJ 2017 at the We Love Jungle Awards.

‘KELVIN’S DJ SETS ARE SMOTHERED IN BIG, BAD DUBPLATES’ and this is no surprise with the knowledge that he runs a project called Bamboo Dubs – a successful dub plate recording service with his partner Selecta J-Man. Popular names to walk through the doors include Sister Nancy, Protoje, London Posse, General Levy – the list goes on – but this arm to his work ensures a personal touch to every set he plays.

Forever the traveller, Kelvin has now settled in Bristol – the spiritual home to Drum & Bass – where he maintains a high profile as a DJ at the many regular events happening across the city. Never one to keep his hands clean, he co-runs his own award winning promotion – Rumble in the Jungle – which is an institution of the world Jungle scene with it’s inclusive, multi-national lineups.

Kelvin 373 is regarded as a regular on the UK Festival circuit with particular focus on events such as Glastonbury, Beat Herder, Fuji Rock in Japan and Boomtown Fair. Notable performances at Boomtown Fair are his regular Thursday night slot on forest stage The Hidden Woods which begins and ends with a 4000 capacity crowd and as a testament to his following, Kelvin and Aries had 6000 people waiting for them at midday on the Sunday to open up The Grid – one of his most fulfilling DJ moments to date.

Traditionally, Kelvin has played the part of executive producer in the studio, where his ideas can influence sound engineers who can turn these ideas into a sonic reality. He’s had success across many respected labels with collaborative projects including Liondub International, Scotch Bonnet & Nuusic, and just over the horizon we are anticipating the fruition of current projects for scene leaders Playaz and Dread Recordings. Next up on Kelvin 373’s personal bucket list is his the completion of his first solo project. Watch this space.

Kelvin has effectively brought together all corners of the Drum & Bass community through tireless life on the road as DJ, dedication to his label Born on Road and perhaps most importantly, his passion towards the music – championing the sound of the underground – Drum & Bass Jungle. This passion is what keeps him going with the excitement of a DJ that’s just been given his first shot at shelling a dance and all things considered it should come as no shock that water boils at 373 kelvins.
