Ngwaka Son Systéme was founded in 2022 by Love Lokombe and Bom’s Bomolo, the two previous founders of widely acclaimed electronica band “KOKOKO!”. This new project continues the futuristic Congolese vision of reimagining electronic dance music by blending traditional and modern sounds.
The six piece band crafts their music instruments made of household objects, creating an otherworldly sound that’s an energetic and contagious mixture of techno, rumba, soukous, zagué and dancehall, with the unique “Kinoise” signature vibe – a genre that never stops innovating the global music
landscape.
Their debut record “Ibotu Ngenge” (2024) was released by renowned Latin-via-Berlin label Eck Echo (Dengue Dengue Dengue, DJ Babatr, Loris), in a unique production blending Colombian and Congolese sounds – working with Colombian dub engineer Diego Gomez (Dub de Gaita) and originally recorded by Levy David at Timbela Ba Studio in Kinshasa.
Their live show is a unique adrenaline-fueled performance as the band plays a wide range of their hand-crafter instruments made from found objects, and create choreographs to their own catchy beats.
