NAKED are an experimental duo consisting of Agnes Gryczkowska and Alexander Johnston, currently based in London.
Their recent work is brutal, distorted and painful like twisted-metal. Noise music in pop structure. Digital violence and sexual ecstasy. It’s overloaded and uncompromising, heavy and raw. It questions the contemporary state of the world where fear has replaced faith. One way in, no way out. NAKED’s music speaks of societal distortion, body distortion and moral distortion. Masochism by information. It explores issues of the emotionally degenerative nature of modern societies, changing nature of sex and physicality, fear induced by capitalism and pathologies of an over-connected, technological society. The voice tries to break through it. It’s at times emotional and sultry or angry and disturbed – speaking of the external and internal power struggle and grasping on to the ruins of its own humanity.
NAKED formed in Scotland, after signing to LuckyMe Records and releasing their debut EP, they collaborated with Mykki Blanco on the track Moshin’ In The Front. NAKED will release their debut album later this year.
The duo has performed their multi-sensory, ephemeral live shows with olfactory effects, intense lighting and taste augmenting pills at Red Bull Music Academy, Glasgow; Simple Things Festival, Glasgow; Corsica Studios, London; SXSW 2016; Primavera Club, Barcelona – amongst other venues and festivals.
