Nikhil Beats is an up-and-coming artist/producer hailing from East London who is championing a unique British-Asian sound. Having previously produced two of a five-track Third Eye EP by singer-songwriter, Safiyyah and one track on West London’s finest, Finn Foxell’s Talk is Cheap EP and two tracks on his most recent Alright Sunshine EP, the producer seamlessly fuses R&B and hip-hop whilst even merging a masterful drum and bass outro on “Notting Dale”.
At the beginning of 2021, Nikhil dropped his highly acclaimed first solo EP, 3000 Realms, which went on to earn the number one spot in Jamz Supernova’s Top 5 EP list. The 23-year-old producer’s passion for music kick-started during his childhood. He grew up surrounded by sounds of all genres and eras, from classical European music and Jazz to Motown and Funk. A skilled musician before he ventured into music production at University, his musical ability shines through even in his role as producer, where it’s not uncommon to hear samples created by Nikhil Beats himself. As a child he spent a lot of time with his grandparents, where classical Hindi music and Bollywood soundtracks would be playing. This myriad of creative influences and cultures shaped a distinctive and unique sound that blurs the lines between genres whilst paying homage to both sides of the British-Indian artist’s identity.
East meets West in his hybrid music style, which blends a South Asian heritage with a modern sonic palette heavily influenced by London’s flourishing underground music scene. His sound cannot simply be placed into one box and his multi-instrumentalist approach often takes the listener on an unexpected journey, characterised by soulful melodies and surprise beat drops.
