IN THE SHOW “DE PONTA A PONTA,” THE FUNMILAYO AFROBEAT ORQUESTRA PRESENTS A REPERTOIRE THAT ENGAGES WITH AFRICAN MUSIC AND FEATURES SONGS FROM THEIR NEW EP. THE COMPOSITIONS ARE BY ROSA COUTO, JASPER OKAN, AND STHE ARAUJO, GAINING STRENGTH THROUGH ARRANGEMENTS CREATED COLLECTIVELY BY THE GROUP IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MUSIC PRODUCER MARCOS MAURÍCIO. THE ENTIRE REPERTOIRE WAS DEVELOPED IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE THEMES OF THE EP THAT GIVES THE SHOW ITS NAME, RESULTING IN A PERFORMANCE THAT REFLECTS THE BAND’S IDENTITY AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CITY.

“FUNMILAYO”. FEATURING MORE THAN SPECIAL PARTICIPATIONS BY MONNA BRUTAL AND JOSY.
ANNE.
THE BAND WILL PRESENT ITS NEW COMPOSITIONS, FRUITS OF THE PROJECT GRATED BY THE
BIDDING RUMOS ITAÚ CULTURAL – 2019/2020.

BASED ON AFROBEAT AS THE MAIN INFLUENCE, THE BAND PRESENTS COLLECTIVE COMPOSITIONS
THAT WERE INSPIRED BY THE ARTISTIC AND INTELLECTUAL TRAJECTORY OF BLACK BRAZILIAN
WOMEN IN ADDITION TO THE PARTICULAR EXPERIENCES OF EACH MEMBER.

On January 23, 2026, the album *Muta Rezistans* was released—born of the collaboration between
Veeby and the Funmilayo Afrobeat Orquestra. This album gives voice to Afro-diasporic expressions
spanning Africa, Brazil, and Canada. It is not merely another album: it is an artistic act, a political
gesture, and a collective voice. Resistance. Memory. Transmission. Womanhood.

The show offers a look at Afrobeat from the perspective of 12 Black Brazilians, in a new encounter between Africa and Brazil, while also highlighting the political struggles for justice and equality that permeate our histories.

This is evident in the aesthetic choices, from the lyrics to the sound of drums, piano, bass, guitar, drums, voices, choirs and brass, balanced in such a way that the listener feels invited to question the eurocentric listening to which we have been submitted.
