Born in Finland, the musician absorbed global rhythms early on, and a move to Manchester at the age of 11 deepened the rich, multi-layered tapestry of their music, also influenced by the forward thinking spirit of UK genres like grime / difficult to define UK producers. Now based back in Helsinki, Grande Mahogany began 2024 releasing his debut album “As Grande As” via Laundry Music, an incredible first body work from an artist who embodies ‘DIY’. Grande exhibited the multifaceted nature of his craft, writing and producing almost all of the record by himself, directing music videos and artwork, designing outfits… using any avenue to express his creative vision.
The album received critical acclaim not only from music critics but also from internationally respected voices like Anthony Fantano of The Needle Drop (who ranked it in his top 50 albums of 2024) and esteemed music platforms such as Colours, Sleeping on Gems and Line of Best Fit. More recently the album has received a nomination for the critics choice award at the Finnish Grammy’s. The record was also warmly received on radio stations such as BBC 6 and BBC 1, as well as U.S.-based platforms like KCRW.
