Drogheda/Dublin-based hotgirl began as the bedroom project of singer-songwriter Ashley Abbedeen, who first turned heads with her lo-fi, trip-hop SoundCloud demo, “Jam“. Looking to expand the project for the stage, an Instagram call-out quickly united Abbedeen with guitarist Sophie Boxwell, drummer Nick Stanley, and bassist Jake Hurley. Together, the four-piece transformed hotgirl’s humble DIY origins into a signature wall of noisy, melodic dissonance.
Following a run of self-produced releases, the band erupted with their debut EP, Sick Sad World, and its acclaimed follow-up, Blast Off. Their sharp, chaotic sound won over tastemakers including Iggy Pop, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, and RTÉ, alongside praise from The Line of Best Fit, Clash, DIY and Dork. On stage, they’ve become a relentless force across UK, Irish, and European festival circuits, sharing lineups with Sprints, Gurriers, The Libertines, Lambrini Girls, and Fat Dog.
