Memorial are Jack Watts and Oliver Spalding, a Brighton-based alt-folk duo who have been friends for over a decade. Known for their delicate, harmony-rich sound and evocative storytelling akin to Sufjan Stevens, Adrianne Lenker and Elliott Smith, they write songs that dig into the intricacies of inner monologue, finding meaning through honesty rather than resolution. Their two previous albums earned support from BBC Introducing, 6Music and Radio X, and a live reputation alongside Bright Eyes, Anaïs Mitchell, Christian Lee Hutson, The Barr Brothers and The Staves. ‘Teeth’ is their first release on OPIA Community, with more to follow.
