She has recently returned to collaborate with Sai Galaxy, a creative producer under Soundway UK. Together, they craft a transcendent fusion of Nigerian disco, Afro-house, and Latin-infused rhythms. Completing the trio is their dynamic Venezuelan bassist, Patricia Berlioz whose presence adds a vital Latin pulse to the group. With shows at tastemaker festivals We Out Here (UK) and Flow (Finland) already under their belt and an EP scheduled for release in Spring 2026, this unusual project is ready to smash….

Oby Onyioha & Sai Galaxy are a visionary trio led by Oby Onyioha, a renowned Nigerian singer who has recently returned to collaborate with Sai Galaxy, a creative producer under Soundway UK, crafting a transcendent fusion of Nigerian disco, Afro-house, and Latin-infused rhythms. At the heart of the group is Oby Onyioha, the iconic Nigerian disco vocalist whose 1980s anthems like Enjoy Your Life and I Want to Feel Your Love redefined African disco, breaking gender and genre barriers in a male-dominated industry. Born in Nigeria, Oby’s academic brilliance—she was among the first Nigerian women to balance higher education with a music career—paralleled her rise as a cultural trailblazer. Her soulful voice and vibrant stage presence made her a pioneer of Nigerian disco, with original pressings of her records fetching up to $1700 among collectors. After stepping away from the spotlight, Oby’s music saw a global resurgence through Soundway Records’ reissues and Tokimonsta’s 2025 remix of Enjoy Your Life, cementing her as a cult icon for new generations of dancefloor enthusiasts.

Joining Oby is Sai Galaxy, the Melbourne-based Afro-house producer and live act signed to Soundway UK, renowned for his seamless blend of Afro-disco, Afro-funk, and nu-disco. Raised in Australia, Sai Galaxy (whose real name remains a low-key mystery in the music world) developed a deep affinity for West African sounds, collaborating with legends like Steve Monite, Steve Black, and Ghana’s Funky Rob. His production style, described as crisp and rhythmically rich, bridges the golden era of African pop with contemporary global dancefloors, earning praise for its sophisticated, sun-soaked grooves. His work with Digital Afrika, an Afro-house project under Carl Cox’s Awesome Soundwave label, showcases his ability to fuse traditional rhythms with cutting-edge electronic textures.

Completing the trio is their dynamic Venezuelan bassist, Patricia Berlioz whose presence adds a vital Latin pulse to the group. Hailing from Caracas, she grew up immersed in the vibrant rhythms of salsa, cumbia, and Afro-Venezuelan percussion, honing her craft in local ensembles before bringing her bold, melodic basslines to the international stage. Her inclusion not only enriches the group’s sound but underscores their commitment to a women-led, cross-cultural narrative, blending African and Latin sonic heritage with unparalleled finesse.

The trio’s collaboration began when Sai Galaxy, captivated by Oby’s timeless vocals, reached out to her for a project that would honor Nigeria’s disco legacy while pushing it into new sonic territories. Their 2025 EP All Day Cool, released on Soundway Records, is a masterful four-track celebration of Afro-disco and funk, featuring luminaries like Steve Black and Rob. The title track, led by Oby’s radiant voice, channels the playful sophistication of 1980s Lagos nightlife, reimagined through Sai Galaxy’s modern production and the Venezuelan bassist’s infectious grooves. Tracks like “Freedom” and “Don’t Get Back No More” have been lauded for their warm, dancefloor-ready energy, earning spots on Apple Music’s Worldwide Groove and Electronic playlists.

In 2025, Oby Onyioha & Sai Galaxy took their electrifying live show on the road, performing at festivals like We Out Here UK, Flow Festival Helsinki, and Sunsets Festival France. Their performances, marked by Oby’s commanding stage presence, Sai’s genre-defying production, and the bassist’s pulsating rhythms, have been described as a vibrant dialogue between African and Latin musical traditions, captivating audiences worldwide.
