Savara is a Grammy-certified Kenyan music producer, singer, songwriter and performer, widely recognized as a core member of the award-winning Afro-pop band Sauti Sol. His artistic evolution has cemented him as one of Kenya’s most influential contemporary artists, blending Afro-fusion, R&B and experimental sounds in his music.
In 2022, Savara launched his solo career with the critically acclaimed debut album Savage Level, introducing his signature sound, which he then termed as Afro Confusion—a fusion of diverse African and global influences. His 2024 EP, No Overthinking, continues to push creative boundaries, featuring major collaborations with Harmonize (Tanzania), Mr. Drew (Ghana) and Murumba Pitch (South Africa). The EP, self-produced and recorded across Los Angeles, South Africa and Nairobi, reflects his commitment to artistic freedom and authenticity.
Savara is a self-taught musician whose journey began in church before he co-founded Sauti Sol alongside Bien, Chimano and Fancy Fingers. Over the years, the band has redefined African pop music, with hit albums like Live and Die in Afrika (2015) and Midnight Train (2020). Their music has attracted global recognition, earning them awards such as Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards (2014) and Best Group at the MTV Africa Music Awards (2016). Their collaborations with Burna Boy, India Arie, Tiwa Savage, Patoranking and Mi Casa have further solidified their international presence. A career highlight includes performing for President Barack Obama in 2015, when Savara and Sauti Sol joined them in the famous “Lipala” dance during his Kenya visit.
Beyond music, Savara is a visionary entrepreneur and mentor. He co-founded Sol Generation Records, a label that has nurtured artists like Bensoul and Nviiri The Storyteller and launched Savage Kitchen, a production brand dedicated to supporting emerging talent. With a degree in Commerce and Finance and training from the Stanford Transformation Program, he has successfully merged creativity with business, playing a key role in artist development, music publishing and event curation.
Savara’s impact extends beyond the music industry. He founded the Savara Women’s Advancement (SaWA) Program, which empowers young women through education, community engagement and mentorship.
