Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe (aka Wande Coal) is one of Africa’s most revered vocalists/singer- songwriters, having inspired a generation of vocalists, singer-songwriters and award-winning musicians. Born in Lagos Island, Nigeria, Wande’s entry into music started early as a singer in the teenage choir at his Church. He got his break in the Nigerian entertainment industry as a Dancer before singing professionally.
Wande Coal garnered mainstream attention with the evergreen R&B-infused record “Ololufe”. Many have described the song as one of the greatest love songs written by a Nigerian. His impeccable vocal delivery and lyrical depth have led him to monumental success in his career. In 2010, Wande Coal won the most awards (5) in the then Hip-Hop World Awards (now The Headies).
His debut album “Mushin 2 Mohits” enjoyed wide critical acclaim amongst the Nigerian youth upon release. With singles “Bumper2Bumper”, “You Bad” feat. D’Banj, “Taboo” becoming fan favourites and era-defining records.
In 2015, Wande released his sophomore album “Wanted” with singles like My Way, Amorawa, Asimapeyin and a dynamic project featuring Skits from Seyi Law, Falz and IamJimmie. He has featured artists such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Wale and renowned Nigerian producer Sarz.
His music transcends boundaries as he has successfully explored several genres, creating charting records. With his powerful voice and sophisticated pen, he has paved the way for several young musicians worldwide. He has written several songs which have gotten international recognition, such as Oliver Twist, and other popular songs like Why Me, and Endowed, showing his exceptional song writing ability.
