WheelUP is the moniker of West London’s broken beat renaissance man, producer and DJ – Danny Wheeler. Holding down radio residencies on stations such as Balami and Worldwide FM, WheelUP has had releases on CoOperation Records (CoOp), Jamz Supernova’s imprint Future Bounce, his home label Tru Thoughts (including the acclaimed albums We Are The Magic & Inner Light), plus standout remixes for Goldie’s Fallen Tree 1Hundred and Wah Wah 45s. All in all Danny has cemented the WheelUP name as a leading light and part of the new school of Bruk

Rising through the ranks and earning praise from the likes of Gilles Peterson or Jamz Supernova, WheelUP has energised renowned venues and festivals with his trademark DJ sets , which have seen him gracing stages globally at Glastonbury, Worldwide Sete, We Out Here and KOKO (supporting Groove Armada).

2026 is shaping up to be a banner year for DJ WheelUP with releases and collabs on prestigious labels such as Toy Tonics, Code QR (Laurent Garnier’s label), Soul Makossa, Tru Thoughts, Def Jam (to name a few) and dates around the world in the UK, Europe, Asia, and even a North American tour in may.

WheelUP

WheelUP is the project of London producer, DJ, and bandleader Danny Wheeler, a name that’s been part of the city’s underground for years. His sound lives where Broken Beat meets Drum & Bass, House, Funk, and Jazz rhythm-first, community-built, and impossible to box in.
Born and raised in Ladbroke Grove, Wheeler grew up surrounded by the sound systems, record shops, and cultures that shaped UK club music.
As a teenager during jungle’s early days, he was playing on pirate radio and sneaking into raves and warehouse parties before he was old enough to get through the door drawn in by the raw, DIY energy that still drives him today.
He came up through the Jungle, drum & bass movement, a resident at Bar Rumba’s legendary Movement nights to running J Majik’s Infrared label and collaborating with a young Sub Focus. His productions and DJ sets have always balanced melody and movement ,soulful at heart, never stuck in one lane.
Sharing studio walls with Bugz In The Attic, Kaidi Tatham and IG Culture, he absorbed and grew up surrounded by the energy of West London’s Broken Beat scene, a community that valued feeling over formula. That polyrhythmic, syncopated vibe became part of how he hears and works with rhythm and flow.
True to his Ndebele tribal roots and his name Mapendla (meaning pathfinder), Wheeler has never stayed still, with WheelUP, he has created a playground for experimentation in music, from a mix of live musicianship, club production, and high energy DJ sets and electronic soul that keeps evolving.
His releases on Tru Thoughts, including albums: Inner Light, Good Love and We Are The Magic, connect the now with both past and present generations through collaborations with the artists and friends who shaped his sound. Having collaborated with Kaidi Tatham and key figures in Bugz In The Attic.
The project soon grew into a live band with Nathan “Tugg” Curran (Basement Jazz drummer), Tom Dresslier(Yussef Dayes bass player), and Toya Delazy (Zulu princess/ Afro rave) and as a DJ he has bringing the WheelUP energy to stages like Worldwide Festival, We Out Here, and Glastonbury. Recently having toured from Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, Morocco, China, France and Portugal he is now continuing to take the WheelUP West London Sound to the world.
As a DJ, WheelUP keeps one foot in every corner of Black British and global dance music culture, crossing genres, but always keeping groove and heritage at the core.
For him WheelUP is more than a name ,it’s about connection and culture, the rhythm that brings people together and the circle rising together, on and off the dancefloor.
Every record and every show keeps pushing forward positive music in motion,respecting the history while pushing forward. His mission is to spread positivity through music throughout the world.
